MAN she is such bad ass now I want to get a tattoo of her:D
The way she plants her potatoes blows me away. And she almost never fertilize or plow or "poison spray" or WATER her garden.If this isn't "Natural-gardening", What is??? and let's emphasize this,
"Mulching RULES!!"
She uses straw for mulching but any plant-base materials that rot should work fine, I assume. Hay, straw, saw dust, old leaves, grass-clipping, and heck, paper (though maybe low in nutrition). If you are lucky enough not to be under the spell(?) of organic certification, use anything you can find FREE. Don't spend money or labor more than really needed, and that's the beauty of home-gardening, right?
Unfortunately she has already passed away but has left us books. I'd definitely check them out.
P.S. I just installed a new OS in my PC (yes it ain't a Mac yo!) and struggling how to manage it, let alone Japanese typing. Sorry for the inconvenience.
